Printed Denim

Last week we filled you in on the rainbow denim craze, and today we are highlighting another new trend we love: printed denim! I must admit, when I first heard of this my mind immediately went to acid washed jeans as part of a costume for an 80s party. I am happy to admit my first thought was way off base, and these pastel-hued prints are quickly claiming real estate space in my closet!

Stella McCartney is embracing the printed denim trend, and has introduced printed jeans and jackets that, from far away look like a unique dyeing technique, but up close showcase palm trees inspired by her recent trip to the Hawaiian islands. According to McCartney, “Denim is something that’s already ingrained in everyone’s wardrobe. So we played with it to give it a new twist.” And we agree! While you will never pry our beloved blue jeans from our hands (or off our bums!) we admit we were ready for a little something new to shake this category up, and spring 2012 has certainly delivered!

While The Stella McCartney jeans may be a bit out of budget for some, there are many other options. Rag & Bone offers a legging jean in a light rainbow of geometric deigns (seen on model riding bike, above) and we are equally in love with AG Adriano Goldschmied’s stilt cigarette leg jean in a pale blue southwestern print (left). Try the trend for less with these denim leopard leggings from Forever 21.
